All around the world our last predators are holding on by a thread. The populations of big predators are at all time lows, with big cat populations nearing extinction. With the man made disruption of the natural world, changing climates, and less suitable habitat than ever, some species appear to be heading towards extinction. If changes aren't made soon, our children could grow up in a world without Lions and Tigers. Wolves are being killed by the hundreds in Western United States, despite being an endangered species. While bears still remain a prized trophy animal, and are constantly being hunted all over the world. The more we know, the more we can do to save these last great predators before it is too late.

My name is William Peacock, and I am a sophomore at High Point University. I am from a small town in Westchester County, New York, and have lived around animals all my life. Big predators have always had my interest, going all the way back to shark week as a young kid. I have seen a Wolf in Yellowstone, a Bear in the Montana back country, swam with sharks, and lived to see another day; This is because none of these predators are like the bloodthirsty killers we all consider them to be. I hope to one day be able to work to change this conception that we as a population have of our big predators. These are not bloodthirsty creatures out hunting us, in reality, it is us hunting them. These animals don't want anything to do with us, and we should respect that. Hopefully I can change how you feel about our predators, and show you why we need them in our ecosystems.
